As longtime followers know, I spent my formative years watching soaps with my mom. Between 1995 and 2014, I'd tune in to watch the goings on in the fictional town of Port Charles. Even though, I stopped watching General Hospital two years ago, I still like to check it out at least one week a year. That week is this week.
Back in 1994, GH started The Nurses' Ball, something that quickly became a fan favorite. It ran for nine years before Bob Guza (the former head writer) killed it--or at least put it into a coma until it was revived in 2013. When it first aired, it was always held during World AIDS Week because it was meant to raise money for AIDS research. And they did. (I'm not sure if this is still something they do--from this article, it doesn't appear like it is. It just says that it "raises awareness" of the AIDS crisis.) I even had one of their t-shirts from the 1999 Ball, bought for me by one of my cousins.
The video above is from the 2014 Nurses' Ball and the reason I chose this clip is probably obvious. If there is one thing readers of romance novels appreciate (other than witty dialogue), it is a well made man and there is no shortage of hot men on General Hospital. The Magic Milo act is an annual performance started when the ball started up again in 2013. This year's Magic Milo is supposed to air later today. I, for one, will be ready to watch it when it comes On Demand late tonight.
